“Life thrives in harmony with Pachamama, through gratitude and reciprocity.”
— Quechua ProverbAuthentic Andean Ceremonies
Andean Ceremony will provide a guiding light for your journey. We invite you to immerse yourself in sacred rituals led by wisdom keepers and Q’ero healers from the high Andes. Willka T’ika was founded in partnership with Quechua staff and Q’ero healers, with authentic ritual at its heart. This foundational principle has always made Willka T’ika a sanctuary of spirit and nature.
Our signature retreats are rooted in these ancient traditions, which connect us to Pachamama, the land, and community. Each ceremony is a powerful experience—opening the heart, clearing energetic blockages, and grounding you in the wisdom of the Andes.
Enhanced by organic, vegetarian farm-to-table meals from our gardens, yoga, meditation, restorative spa therapies, opportunities for reflection, and cultural immersion, these sacred practices create a profound shift toward holistic mind, body, and spirit healing.
We offer Andean rituals such as Coca Leaf Readings, K’intu Blessings, Despacho Offerings, Fire Ceremonies, and Sound Healing, as well as Cacao Ceremonies and Temazcal (sweat lodge) and a cleansing floral plunge pool. Why Your Stay Matters
At Willka T’ika, we believe that helping you find balance and holistic wellbeing begins with living by those same values. Since our founding in 1994, we’ve embraced sustainability and cultural responsibility not just as practices, but as a way of life.
In the mid 1980s, longtime teacher and traveler Carol Cumes discovered the healing energy of Peru’s Sacred Valley and was deeply moved by the culture and wisdom of the Quechua-speaking people, descendants of the Inca. After writing her first book, “Pachamama’s Children,” Carol envisioned Willka T’ika as a retreat that would honor Andean traditions while offering a sanctuary for holistic wellness and mindful living. Decades before “wellness travel” was a buzzword, Carol built Willka T’ika as a sustainable sanctuary, serving vibrant, organic, vegetarian cuisine from the land, shaping the now-famous Seven Chakra Gardens, and establishing the Sacred Valley’s first yoga shala. As the first center of its kind, Willka T’ika has forged the path for conscious travel in Peru.
From the beginning, Willka T’ika has been more than a retreat center—it has been a family. When Carol first arrived in the Sacred Valley, she formed deep bonds with two Quechua families who helped bring her vision to life. Today, these same 20 Quechua staff, and their children, continue to nurture this sacred space, bringing warmth, wisdom, and care to every guest experience.
Our boutique retreat was hand-built by local artisans, using natural, locally sourced materials from the Sacred Valley. Every detail—from the adobe walls to the abundant gardens that provide daily farm-to-table meals—reflects reverence for the land and those who care for it. Our organic, vegetarian cuisine is prepared fresh each day, nourishing body and spirit with ingredients grown in the same soil that sustains our community.
Today, Willka T’ika continues to honor Pachamama (Mother Earth) with sustainable practices, including a state-of-the-art solar-panel grid and water system that allows us to live in harmony with the land while offering modern comfort to our guests.
Guided by the Andean principle of ayni—sacred reciprocity—Carol also founded the Willka T’ika Children’s Fund in 1994, the same year the retreat opened. Through this initiative, we’ve supported the education of thousands of Quechua children in remote Andean villages, providing scholarships, school supplies, and essential resources to empower the next generation.
Your wellness journey at Willka T’ika doesn’t end when you leave—it lives on in the community you’ve helped support.
When you stay with us, you become part of something larger: a regenerative cycle of healing, respect, and reciprocity.
