What Group Leaders Are Saying…

The Willka T'ika Experience

Expertly Curated, Luxury Retreats

Our turnkey options will make planning effortless while assuring that your group has an unforgettable journey. Our staff has more than thirty years of experience curating world-renowned group and wellness retreats. Allow us to guide you through a restorative, immersive, and transformational experience that explores everything that Wilka T’ika and the Sacred Valley have to offer. Our curated retreats are perfect for those interested in an authentic Andean experience and a journey of connection, reflection, and awe.

Our two most popular curated options are the Pachamama and Lucuma Retreats. Each of these retreats balances three elements – an immersive experience of the rich cultural heritage of the Incan world; daily workshops offered by the group leaders; and complementary spiritual, wellness, and self-care offerings at Willka T’ika. Retreat excursions include guided outings to Machu Picchu, Cusco, the mystical Moray Circles, the P’isaq Ruins, and the Salt Mines of Maras. All programs include traditional Andean ceremonies with authentic Q’ero healers from the high mountains.

There is a wide range of optional ceremonies, therapies and day trips that will create the most unique experience for your group. Some of our most popular include the Coca Leaf Reading, Andean music performance, Cacao Ceremony, Sound Healing, Sweat Lodge Ceremony with medicinal plunge pool, and outings to an Andean Craft Market. Andean spa services, full-body massages, outdoor solar flower baths, and crystal light therapies are available in our Andean Spa.

In-Residence Retreats

This option is perfect for intensely scheduled workshops, like yoga teacher trainings or other educational offers. In-Residence retreats allow your group to experience the best of the Sacred Valley right within Willka T’ika’s grounds. Our chefs will prepare nourishing and restorative organic vegetarian cuisine, most of which is sourced from our herb and vegetable gardens. Your group will enjoy deepening their practice in our sun-drenched yoga shalas or in the shade of a thousand-year-old lucuma tree. Between workshop sessions, there will be plenty of time to explore and reflect in our world-renowned Seven Chakra Gardens, characterized by many as a “Garden of Eden” and of indescribable beauty.

We can also help you incorporate quintessential experiences into your schedule – like a day trip to Machu Picchu or an authentic Andean Craft Market, a Cacao Ceremony or Coca Leaf Reading. Complementary experiences including spa and self-care therapies, a Sweat Lodge Ceremony or a performance by Andean musicians can be added to enhance your groups’ journey.

Seven Chakra Gardens

Learn More

Seven Chakra Gardens

The world-renowned Seven Chakra Gardens winds through the grounds of Willka T’ika. The gardens contain symbols, shapes, sculptures, and medicinal plants which resonate with one of the seven major energy centers of the body. Each garden offers a uniquely charged sacred space for group or personal work. Voted as one of the top experiences during a stay at Willka T’ika, guests enjoy the gardens’ rejuvenating energies and exploring the healing connection with Pachamama, Mother Nature.

One of the garden’s most ancient residents is the 1,000+ year-old Lucuma tree which transmits its tremendous healing earth energy from a pre-Inkan era. The tree grounds and inspire guests in need of integrating their body, mind, and spirit. Some believe Willka T’ika’s Lucuma tree is one of approximately 365 shrines located along the Inkan Empire seques or arrow straight lines. These forty or so lines emanate from Cusco’s Korikancha Temple and run for hundreds of miles toward celestial points on the horizon.

Guests can align with the powerful Sacred Valley energies in the Spiral Garden of the third eye Chakra Garden. Walking the Spiral invites the release of unwanted energies and a shift toward expanding consciousness. Opening the third eye chakra to intuition and higher reflection can open the personal path to greater awareness and wellness.

In the crown chakra garden, the thousand-year-old Lucuma Tree connects guests to the energy and wisdom of the ancient Incan civilization. The grassy area beneath the Lucuma Tree is a perfect place for meditation. Winding paths lead from one garden to the other, reminding us to slow down and enjoy the journey.

The gardens heal and balance by encouraging a direct connection to the wisdom of Nature. Walk, meditate, write, paint, or simply relax in the chakra garden of your choice.

Willka T’ika’s Seven Chakra Gardens were a labor of love, which you can read more about in our founder Carol Cumes’ book Chakra Gardens: Opening the Senses of the Soul.

FAQ

How will our group get from Cusco airport to Willka T’ika?
We provide transfers from Cusco airport (or from a hotel in Cusco) to Willka Tika. The drive takes approximately 70 minutes. If your participants arrive at different times, we will arrange for group transfers to leave at set times.
What is the weather like?

The Sacred Valley has the most moderate weather in the Andes which means generally sunny warm days, and cool nights. Unless you’re planning a serious trek, there is no bad time to come to the Sacred Valley. Since weather can change dramatically at high altitude, it is always wise to have a hat, rain/wind jacket and a few layers.

March through May (the Andean fall months) are sunny, and the mountains and fields are beautifully green. Soft rains may fall at night in February & March.

June through August (the winter months) are sunny and dry. After sunset, it gets cold enough for a sweater or jacket. Frost occurs only rarely.

September through November (the lovely Andean spring months) see warmer nights. Soft rains at night may begin in November.

December through February, summer vegetables and fruits ripen, and the Willka T’ika garden is in full bloom. Rains, if they come, are over quickly. January marks the beginning of the summer rainy season. Mornings are often clear and dry, and the rains arrive in the afternoon and continue through the night.

Be prepared for relatively high elevations. Approximate elevations above sea-level: Willka T’ika’s 9,420 feet, Cusco’s 11,150 feet, Machu Picchu 7,800 feet

What is the WIFI access?
Although Willka T’ika was proud to be chosen by Vogue as “Best Digital Detox” retreat, we have a dedicated WiFi area where guests can work on-line or call family and friends. There is also a new conference room with a projector for group classes and presentations. Peru uses 220 volts which means you should not bring hair dryers, shavers, or other appliances from the US. Laptops and phones generally have built in converters and can be charged without a problem.
How are the yoga rooms equipped?

We have two large yoga rooms which accommodate 60 and 40 students respectively as well as several other indoor and outdoor ceremonial areas. Thus, Willka T’ika can comfortably host two groups at once with maximum privacy. Our sun-filled yoga rooms are fully equipped with mats, blocks, blankets, heaters, and sound systems.

How do we get to Machu Picchu?

All of our fully inclusive programs include at least a one-day excursion to Machu Picchu. This has to be reserved in advance as train tickets, entry tickets, buses, transfers, and guides must all be arranged. Some leaders may choose to offer Machu Picchu as an optional extension before or after their program. Some groups choose to spend a night in Aguas Calientes, at the foot of Machu Picchu where there are several comfortable and convenient hotels. This allows them to return to the Citadel a second time and add a popular hike to the program.

Can guests come early or stay later?
Yes! It’s a great idea to come early and acclimate. The easiest way to extend a guest’s trip is for them to simply book on-line on our website. Some guests also like to arrive early to explore Cusco.
Where does the group stay in Cusco?
We work with several charming, well-located Cusco hotels which are convenient for exploring the historical center, Koricancha Temple, and markets. Our fully inclusive programs spend 1 or 2 nights in Cusco at the beginning of the program.
Can we participate in a plant medicine ceremony?
Please see our Plant Medicine Handbook to learn more about our ethos around sacred plants. For some groups we are able to offer a San Pedro ceremony with our resident shaman.
Do you have laundry service?
We have a laundry service that turns around in 24 hours. There is also a self-service area that guests can use to hand-wash their clothes.
What if my group has special dietary requirements?
Willka T’ika is a vegetarian wellness center that caters to many special diets (vegan, gluten-free, diary-free, kosher, etc.) We grow most of our own organic vegetables and sources all fruit locally. Delicious buffet breakfasts and 3 course family-style dinners are included with all bookings. Our turn-key programs include all lunches at Willka T’ika and two box lunches for travel days.
