Authentic Andean Ceremonies

Andean Ceremony will provide a guiding light for your journey. We invite you to immerse yourself in sacred rituals led by wisdom keepers and Q’ero healers from the high Andes. Willka T’ika was founded in partnership with Quechua staff and Q’ero healers, with authentic ritual at its heart. This foundational principle has always made Willka T’ika a sanctuary of spirit and nature.

Our signature retreats are rooted in these ancient traditions, which connect us to Pachamama, the land, and community. Each ceremony is a powerful experience—opening the heart, clearing energetic blockages, and grounding you in the wisdom of the Andes.

Enhanced by organic, vegetarian farm-to-table meals from our gardens, yoga, meditation, restorative spa therapies, opportunities for reflection, and cultural immersion, these sacred practices create a profound shift toward holistic mind, body, and spirit healing.

We offer Andean rituals such as Coca Leaf Readings, K’intu Blessings, Despacho Offerings, Fire Ceremonies, and Sound Healing, as well as Cacao Ceremonies and Temazcal (sweat lodge) and a cleansing floral plunge pool. Explore these sacred offerings—along with other supportive healing therapies—in our world-renowned retreats.

Andean Despacho

Pachamama—Mother Earth—is honored through a sacred Despacho ceremony. Guided by our Pakko, a revered Q’ero healer visiting from the high Andes, you’ll make offerings to Pachamama, your loved ones, and yourself. Flowers, coca leaves, grains, sweets, and other symbols of beauty and abundance are carefully arranged to honor the sacred mountains (Apus) and lakes (Cochas), recognizing Nature as source and sustainer. It is an act of reciprocity and deep belonging.

Fire Ceremony

Following the Despacho, the Fire Ceremony invites participants to focus their intentions and prepare for the journey ahead. As flames rise, the spirit of the fire releases prayers and intentions into the cosmos. This powerful ritual is often offered before a pilgrimage to Machu Picchu, grounding you in gratitude, clarity, and connection.

K’intu Blessing

K’intu is a traditional Andean ceremony in which coca leaves—are symbolically offered to Pachamama (Mother Earth). This sacred ritual is a gesture of gratitude rooted in the Andean principle of ayni (sacred reciprocity) and the cosmology of the high Andes. Guided by our Pakko—a revered Q’ero healer visiting from the mountains—you’ll set intentions for your journey and receive blessings from the land.

The ancient and aromatic chocolate beverage is prepared with love by our Quechua family and served in a musical, meditative ceremony by our Resident Shaman. The sweetness of this ceremony often inspires deep relaxation, joyful movement, or both. Come with an open mind and prepare to open your heart.

Sound Healing Ceremony

This unique experience invites you into a landscape of resonance and reflection. Guided by our resident luthier and ceremonialist—who handcrafts his instruments—you’ll be bathed in waves of vibration from sound bowls, gongs, chimes, flutes, and other sacred creations. These harmonics gently dissolve habitual thought patterns and offer an inner “tuning” that restores balance. As the nervous system calms, a profound sense of peace and openness emerges, creating space for clarity, healing, and inner harmony.

Andean Despacho

Despacho is a sacred ceremony of gratitude and reciprocity rooted in the Q’ero lineage of the high Andes. In this communal ritual, you are invited to participate in the creation of a prayer bundle—an intricate mandala of flowers, coca leaves, and symbolic offerings.

Guided by our visiting Pakko, the Despacho becomes an expression of ayni, sacred reciprocity: an exchange between ourselves, the Apus (mountain spirits), the Cochás (lakes), and Pachamama herself. As the bundle is woven together and ceremonially offered, participants are invited to release grief or burdens, clarify intentions, and realign with a deeper sense of harmony and belonging.
