What Our Guests Are Saying…
Cuisine that Nourishes Body, Mind, & Spirit
At Willka T’ika, food is a foundational part of your healing experience—one that is deeply grounded in the regenerative energy of Pachamama. Our chefs create organic, vegetarian meals using ingredients harvested each morning from our gardens, where nutrient-rich Andean superfoods, medicinal herbs, and local vegetables thrive in the mineral-rich soil. Every dish is designed to support metabolic balance, reduce inflammation, and inspire your senses.
*We welcome vegan, gluten-free, and special dietary requests. All stays include breakfast and dinner. Midday meals are available upon request and may be served family-style in the garden or packed for a day of adventure.
A Sanctuary for Deep Restoration and Self-Care
Willka T’ika offers an environment of mindful luxury, where every detail is designed to support tranquility and deep rest. Guest rooms are nestled in charming spaces throughout the garden, each offering views of the majestic Andes and the fragrant tapestry of flowering plants, therapeutic herbs, and ancient trees.
Andean themes, Feng Shui principles, indigenous artwork, and locally sourced, sustainable materials shape each space, creating a harmonious blend of beauty and balance.
Each room is named for the Andean medicinal plant that grows at its doorstep, honoring the land’s healing traditions. Fresh-cut blossoms from our gardens greet you on arrival, and at night, you’ll find a cozy hot-water bottle tucked beneath your blankets – a beloved Willka T’ika ritual.
The retreat can accommodate up to 65 guests in 35 elegantly designed rooms. Luxury and Garden view rooms are available in single, double, and triple configurations. Whether traveling alone, with a partner, or as part of a group, each space invites quiet reflection and deep restorative rest.
Luxurious. Sustainable. Bespoke.
Our Story: Why Your Stay Matters
At Willka T’ika, we believe that helping you find balance and holistic wellbeing begins with living by those same values. Since our founding in 1994, we’ve embraced sustainability and cultural responsibility not just as practices, but as a way of life. In the mid 1980s, longtime teacher and traveler Carol Cumes discovered the healing energy of Peru’s Sacred Valley and was deeply moved by the culture and wisdom of the Quechua-speaking people, descendants of the Inca.
After writing her first book, “Pachamama’s Children,” Carol envisioned Willka T’ika as a retreat that would honor Andean traditions while offering a sanctuary for holistic wellness and mindful living. Decades before “wellness travel” was a buzzword, Carol built Willka T’ika as a sustainable sanctuary, serving vibrant, organic, vegetarian cuisine from the land, shaping the now-famous Seven Chakra Gardens, and establishing the Sacred Valley’s first yoga shala. As the first center of its kind, Willka T’ika has forged the path for conscious travel in Peru.
From the beginning, Willka T’ika has been more than a retreat center—it has been a family. When Carol first arrived in the Sacred Valley, she formed deep bonds with two Quechua families who helped bring her vision to life. Today, these same 20 Quechua staff, and their children, continue to nurture this sacred space, bringing warmth, wisdom, and care to every guest experience.
Our boutique retreat was hand-built by local artisans, using natural, locally sourced materials from the Sacred Valley. Every detail—from the adobe walls to the abundant gardens that provide daily farm-to-table meals—reflects reverence for the land and those who care for it. Our organic, vegetarian cuisine is prepared fresh each day, nourishing body and spirit with ingredients grown in the same soil that sustains our community.
Today, Willka T’ika continues to honor Pachamama (Mother Earth) with sustainable practices, including a state-of-the-art solar-panel grid and water system that allows us to live in harmony with the land while offering modern comfort to our guests.
Guided by the Andean principle of ayni—sacred reciprocity—Carol also founded the Willka T’ika Children’s Fund in 1994, the same year the retreat opened. Through this initiative, we’ve supported the education of thousands of Quechua children in remote Andean villages, providing scholarships, school supplies, and essential resources to empower the next generation.
Your wellness journey at Willka T’ika doesn’t end when you leave—it lives on in the community you’ve helped support.
When you stay with us, you become part of something larger: a regenerative cycle of healing, respect, and reciprocity.
What Our Guests Are Saying…
A Welcoming Retreat for All…
One of our founding principles is the Quechua concept of ayni—sacred reciprocity. Ayni roughly translates to “today for you, tomorrow for me,” reflecting the belief that our lives and destinies are deeply interconnected. We apply this principle to our sustainability practices as well as to our guest experience. Within our gardens and grounds, there is a warm, welcoming, and inclusive atmosphere.
When you feel deeply supported, your nervous system softens—and true self-care, insight, and transformation become possible.
We have had the pleasure of hosting a diverse clientele of executives, business leaders, entrepreneurs, wellness teachers, coaches, photographers, writers, healing artists, outdoor adventurers, visionaries, couples, and families from around the globe. Willka T’ika is also a preferred destination for solo women travelers and LGBTQ+ guests.
The Willka T’ika team welcomes you with warmth and genuine care. Our directors greet guests personally, lead garden tours, join yoga classes, and stop by at dinner to connect. At Willka T’ika, we hope you’ll find a second home — a place to ground your journey of transformation and holistic healing.
Sacred Valley Location
Willka T’ika rests in the heart of the Sacred Valley, which cuts a sweeping curve between two 20,000-foot Andean peaks. Our exquisite sanctuary is located between Machu Picchu and Cusco, making it an ideal base from which to explore the wonders of the Andean heartland. At 9,400 feet above sea level and 13 degrees south of the equator, the air is remarkably pure, and the light reflects a luminous quality unique to this region.
During the height of the Incan Empire, the fertile Sacred Valley was essential for its rich soil, abundant water, and temperate climate. Across its slopes, the Inca built temples, terraces, fortresses, and sophisticated engineering works—many of which still shape the landscape today.
Because of the valley’s elevation, it’s important to acclimate gently. Willka T’ika sits at 9,400 feet, with Cusco at approximately 11,000 feet and Machu Picchu around 8,000 feet. For many travelers, Willka T’ika provides an ideal place to acclimate, set intentions, integrate, and bookend their journey in the Andes.
