We’re Hiring!

Have you ever imagined what it would be like to work at a Wellness Center like Willka T’ika?
Imagine waking up to the sounds of birds chirping in lush gardens;
Yoga and meditation practice whenever you feel inspired;
Organic farm-to-table vegetarian food prepared just for you;
Hikes to local Incan ruins and craft markets;
Meeting fascinating, blissed-out travelers!
Every week we receive messages from people interested in work, work-exchange, internships, or volunteer opportunities at Willka T’ika. We generally respond by explaining that we have a wonderful staff of 22 Quechua neighbors who have been working with us since 1994. In the tradition of the Andean principle of “ayni” or reciprocity everyone pitches in and helps with guest services, food preparation, housekeeping, gardening, and maintenance. As such, we have rarely needed outside help.
However, as we expand to attract more diverse individuals and groups from different countries, we are open to hiring someone that brings something unique to our team. Please see below for current opportunities.
More Than a Wellness Retreat: What It’s Really Like to Work at Willka T’ika
Working at Willka T’ika Essential Wellness in Peru’s Sacred Valley can appear magical from the outside — and in many ways it truly is. Our guests often describe their stay as healing, transformative, and life-changing.
But behind every meaningful guest experience is a great deal of teamwork, adaptability, emotional maturity, and day-to-day operational care.
Willka T’ika is not only a wellness retreat center. It is also:
– a home,
– a small hospitality business,
– a multicultural work environment,
– and a long-standing collaboration with our Quechua staff and local community in the Sacred Valley of Peru.
Because our guests come from around the world while our staff is primarily local, strong communication skills are essential. In most roles, conversational English is important for guest interaction, while conversational Spanish is equally important for integrating respectfully and effectively with our staff and daily operations.
The people who thrive at Willka T’ika are not necessarily those with the most spiritual certifications, wellness branding, or social media presence. In fact, we often place greater value on practical experience in hospitality, teamwork, administration, marketing, guest care, operations, communication, and small business environments than on spiritual titles alone.
The individuals who integrate best into life at Willka T’ika are usually those who:
– listen carefully,
– communicate clearly,
– work collaboratively,
– adapt gracefully,
– contribute practically,
– and genuinely care about supporting both guests and fellow team members.
If you contact us regarding work opportunities, internships, ayni exchange, yoga teaching, retreat collaboration, or wellness hospitality positions in Peru, we strongly encourage you to first spend time exploring our website, blog, and current opportunities. The most compelling applicants are usually those who demonstrate an understanding of:
– our culture,
– our operational realities,
– our guests’ needs,
– and the spirit of reciprocity (“ayni”) that guides life at Willka T’ika.
Rather than telling us only about your personal philosophy or healing modalities, we encourage you to also share:
– how you hope to contribute,
– what relevant hospitality or business experience you bring,
– how you work within a team,
– and what practical value or guest experience you feel you can help create.
We have also learned that meaningful collaboration and integration take time. Because of the energy involved in training, cultural integration, guest relationships, and team dynamics, we generally prioritize applicants who are able to commit to at least 2–3 months at the retreat center, though shorter stays may occasionally be considered for exceptional candidates who are already a strong fit.
Over the years, we’ve learned that successful collaborations are built not only on inspiration and alignment, but also on attentiveness, humility, professionalism, consistency, and mutual support.
We deeply appreciate your interest in Willka T’ika and look forward to hearing from thoughtful applicants who resonate with this approach.
